ELON, NC -- Elon University baseball coach Mike Kennedy announced the signing of
Brian Hensen (Clemson, SC/Hillsborough C.C.) to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday afternoon.
Hensen, a 6'4" left-handed pitcher, was the 2002 HCC Pitcher of the Year as well as HCC's Male Athlete of the Year after compiling a 7-4 record (team was 17-31) with 99.1 innings pitched. He allowed only 17 walks and fanned 51 hitters. In 2001 at HCC he pitched nearly 100 innings en route to a 8-5 (team was 17-35) and was named Pitcher of the Year.
Prior to attending HCC, Hensen threw for the Easley,SC American Legion team where he went 13-2 with a 2.33 ERA in 2001. He struck out 83 hitters in 108 innings and allowed only 11 free passes. Hensen went 2-0 in the state tournament and was the tournament's Most Valuable Pitcher.
While at Daniel High in Clemson, Hensen earned All-Region honors in both baseball and basketball. He earned team MVP honors after compiling a 6-3 record and a strikeout-to-walk ration better than 3-to-1.
Brian is the son of Jack and Kathleen Hensen.
