Cam Devanney ’19 Promoted to the Kansas City Royals

Kansas City, Mo.- Former Elon infielder, Cam Devanney '19, was called up to the Kansas City Royals Tuesday morning and becomes the 14th player in Elon Baseball history to make the Major Leagues. Devanney becomes the third member of the 2019 CAA Regular Season Championship team along with George Kirby and Ty Adcock to reach the MLB.  
 
"I am so excited for Cam. He is the true definition of a baseball player," said Elon Baseball Head Coach Mike Kennedy. "(Devanney) shows up every day, puts his work in. Does it the right way …plays hard and loves doing it. What an awesome day for Cam and his family."
 
Devanney has been having a career year in AAA with the Omaha Storm Chasers. The Amherst, N.H. native is third in the International League in home runs (18) and fourth in RBI (55) to go along with a .272/.366/.565 slash line. Devanney is also top ten in the International League with a .931 OPS through 69 games.
 
During his redshirt-junior year with the Phoenix, he started all 57 games during the season and batted .335 (69-206). He was second on the team with 10 home runs and added 17 doubles, three triples, 52 RBIs and 48 runs scored. He was drafted in the 15th round by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2019 MLB Draft. Devanney becomes the third member of the 2019 team to reach the Major Leagues and becomes Elon's first primary hitter in the major leagues since 1949.
