CHARLOTTE, NC – Elon right-handed pitcher Justin Weeks was declared the Big South Conference Pitcher of the Week Tuesday afternoon, making him the third Phoenix player to receive a weekly league honor this season.

Weeks worked a staff-high 13 innings between two games last week, going 1-0 in two starts with one no-decision for a 1.38 ERA in a pair of Phoenix victories. In those 13 innings, the sophomore sensation from Horse Shoe, NC scattered 13 hits and amassed 13 strikeouts to go with two earned runs and no walks.

For the season, Weeks has forged a 2-1 record and a 3.18 ERA after making eight appearances and six starts. He has worked 34 innings to collect 29 strikeouts to go with just seven bases on balls and 12 earned runs.

Weeks has helped the Phoenix (16-8-1, best-ever 5-0 Big South) to fashion an active eight-game winning streak entering Wednesday’s 6:30 p.m. non-conference contest at Charlotte.
