BUIES CREEK, NC--The Campbell women's tennis team swept all three doubles matches and took home four singles wins to defeat Elon, 5-2, in Elon's final game before competing at the Big South Tournament.
Campbell (11-4) swept the Phoenix in doubles play to earn the point. Kerstin Stockinger and Carmer Linder defeated Jennifer Fulmer and Kelly Fleck, 8-2. Pascale Veraverbeke and Isabel Declercq rolled past Melissa Holland and Elizabeth Kernodle, 8-2 and Ingrid Stockinger and Lindsey Hughes turned in an idential score of 8-2 at the No.3 doubles over Cassie Martin and Aubrey Rhoads.
Elon (5-8) earned their two points at No.5 and No.6 singles. Rhoads earned her fifth singles win by defeating Hughes, 6-3, 6-4. At No.6, Martin took home the victory with a two set score of 6-3, 6-1, over I. Stockinger. Campbell's Linder earned a national ranking for the first time in her collegiate career and a win over Elon's Fulmer at No.2, 6-4, 6-2.
Campell also won at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4 singles. K.Stockinger defeated Fleck, 6-3, 6-1, at No.1, Kernodle lost to Veraverbeke at No.3, 6-1, 6-2 and the Camels' Declercq was successful at No. 4 with a score of 6-0, 6-1 over Holland.
