Those eight markers led off a 13-2 run that gave the Lady Mocs a 17-8 lead on a three-pointer by Lyndi Sippel with 7:49 to play before the intermission.
The Phoenix (15-10, 11-7) responded with a 9-2 spurt to pull within 19-17 on a pair of free throws by Brittany Winner with 4:06 left in the first half. Elon never inched any closer and had to settle for a 25-21 deficit at the break. Chattanooga opened the second period with a 26-9 surge to pull away 51-30 – the largest spread of the contest – on a jumper by Mattison with 7:47 on the clock.
