Olds, Phoenix Claim Shamrock Intercollegiate Title

TEGA CAY, S.C. – Morgan Olds fired a two-over-par 74 in final-round action, pacing Elon to its second consecutive championship in as many tournaments Sunday afternoon at the Shamrock Intercollegiate women's golf invitational at the Tega Cay Golf Club.

Olds (73-77-74–224) led the 72-player field throughout the three-round, three-day event. She outdueled Longwood's Stephanie Hicks (81-75-71–227) and UNC Greensboro's Jenna Schmidt (73-78-77–228) for the individual title on the 5,842-yard course.

After erupting to a strong start on Friday, the Phoenix (305-314-316–935) staved off second-place UNC Greensboro (317-313-308–938) on Saturday and Sunday for the team crown. Longwood (325-308-319–952) ended up with a distant third-place finish in the 14-team tournament.

William & Mary (328-327-318–973), High Point (335-337-303–975), Methodist (337-331-309–977), St. Mary's of Texas (332-334-312–978), host Winthrop (344-332-305–981), Wofford (339-335-322–996), Bucknell (341-334-332–1007), Jackson State (334-349-339–1022), St. Francis of Pennsylvania (348-348-338–1034), Old Dominion (373-348-333–1054) and Radford (365-363-350–1078) rounded out the rest of the field.

Olds was joined in the top-20 standings by teammates Kristin Tremoulis (5th/76-79-78–233), Krista Bulow (Tied-6th/79-76-80–235) and Samantha Widmer (Tied-15th/77-82-84–243). Alison Mangini (Tied-51st/86-84-93–263) represented the Phoenix as a member of the team while Elon's Kelly Baytos (Tied-40th/83-89-80–252) competed as an individual.
