Raduenz Adds Two To 2006 Squad

ELON, N.C.– Elon University head softball coach Patti Raduenz announced the signing of two players to National Letters of Intent. Brandi Jones (Wilmington, N.C./E.A. Laney) and Rebecca Rijavec (Calgary, Alberta, Canada/Indian River CC) will join the Phoenix for the 2006 season.

Jones, an outfielder, was a four-year letterwinner for Jim Fisk at E.A. Laney High School. She was named to the all-conference team in 2003 and 2004 while also being honored as a First Team All-Area player in 2004 and team MVP in 2004. Jones led her team to three consecutive conference championships in 2002, 2003 and 2004. Brandi is the daughter of Dennis and Joan Jones.

Rijavec, a shortstop, comes to Elon after playing a season at Indian River Community College where she helped lead her team to the NJCAA Atlantic District Championship, NJCAA Region VIII Championship, NJCAA National Runner-Up and FCCAA State Championship. Rijvec earned first team all-conference honors at Indian River while batting .394. Before attending Indian River, Rijavec was a member of the Canadian Junior National Team and competed at the World Championships in Nanjing, China in 2003. Her senior year in high school, Rijavec was ranked in the top 28 under-19 players in Canada. Rebecca is the daughter of Michael and Shelley Rijavec.
