DRAPER, Va. -- Samantha Widmer carded a second round 68 to help lead Elon to a second place finish at the 2005 Draper Valley Women's Invitational hosted by Appalachian State on Tuesday afternoon. As a team, the Phoenix shot a 604 (304-300) and finished behind only Western Carolina (293-298--591). Widmer's two round total of 145 landed her a second place individual finish.
Kelly Baytos posted a 151 (76-75), good enough to finish in a tie for 11th place. Kristin Tremoulis' 153 (74-79) earned her a share of 16th place. Frederique Bruell (78-78--156, T31st) and Danielle Mills (77-80--157, T38th) also competed for the Phoenix.
Western Carolina's Malin Fryk claimed the individual crown, posting rounds of 72-72--144.
Trailing Elon and WCU were: Appalachian State (608), Wofford (614), Belmont (616), High Point (618), Tennessee Tech (619), Methodist (621), Radford (631), Kennesaw State (631), The Citadel (636), Gardner-Webb (637), Charleston Southern (643), Old Dominion (655), Lenoir-Rhyne (667) and Tennessee State (692).
Elon will host the Sea Trail/Elon Invitational beginning on Sept. 24 in Sunset Beach, N.C.
