A total of 16 games against 2006 tournament teams awaits Kennedy’s squad, including six combined games with College World Series participants Miami, North Carolina and Clemson. Four more dates feature SoCon rival College of Charleston and South Carolina, teams that advanced to the Super Regional round. Finally, Elon will see six games against Regional round entrants Princeton, UNC Wilmington and Virginia.
The 2007 season will begin with Elon participating in the Springmaid Beach Resort Tournament hosted by Coastal Carolina. The tournament begins on Feb. 9 with the Phoenix playing Virginia at noon. Elon’s other two opponents in the tournament will be Coastal Carolina and North Florida.
At home, Elon will open with St. Joseph’s in a doubleheader on Feb. 17 beginning at 1:00 p.m. Also visiting Latham Park in non-league action will be Princeton, Xavier, UNC Wilmington, North Carolina A&T, Wake Forest, High Point and Campbell. In Southern Conference play, the Phoenix will play host to Davidson, Furman, UNC Greensboro, College of Charleston and Wofford.
Kennedy’s team will travel to Campbell, Miami, North Carolina, Coastal Carolina, UNC Wilmington, Clemson, High Point and Wake Forest in non-conference play and to Appalachian State, The Citadel, Georgia Southern and Western Carolina in SoCon action.
“We’ve put together another very challenging schedule this year,” said Kennedy. “We’ve got six games against teams that were in the College World Series last year. We’re extremely excited about getting to play both North and South Carolina at home. We hope that our players are up to the challenges that this schedule provides us.”
