The three-day, three-round tournament takes place Friday at 8:04 a.m., Saturday at 11 a.m. and Sunday at 8:04 a.m.
The 13th annual, 54-hole event consists of 18 holes per day on the 5904-yard course. The SoCon consists of eight women's golf teams – Appalachian State, College of Charleston, The Citadel, Elon, Furman, UNC Greensboro, Western Carolina and Wofford.
Furman has captured 11 of the previous 12 conference championships, including the past two in a row. Western Carolina claimed the 2003 SoCon crown. Elon was the 2005 runner-up.
Entering the tournament, College of Charleston's Angie Hill leads the Southern Conference with a 74.26 scoring average for the 2005-06 season, followed by Furman's Kathleen Ekey (74.76) and Western Carolina's Ashley Hovda (74.83).
The other top 10 league leaders are Western Carolina's Malin Fryk (76.25), Furman's Blair Lamb (76.38), Elon's Samantha Widmer (76.59), Furman's Connor Atkinson (77.08), College of Charleston's Gretchen Zoeller (77.11), Elon's Taylor Johnson (77.41) and UNC Greensboro's Ashley (77.42).
