The Rice Owls sit atop the poll this year after a 57-13 season in 2006. Rounding out the top-five are Miami, Clemson, Texas and North Carolina. Elon rates ahead of Notre Dame, San Diego, Ohio State, Miami (Ohio), Texas A&M and Louisiana State.

The 2007 Phoenix schedule features eight games against teams in the rankings - three with Miami (#2), one with Clemson (#3), two with North Carolina (#5), one with South Carolina (#6) and one with Virginia (#9).
