ELON, N.C. – Elon University Director of Athletics Dave Blank today announced that the current renovations to Latham Park are on schedule and will be completed in time to allow the fans to enjoy the new features for the upcoming season. In recent weeks, Latham Park has been renovated to include increased seating capacity with the addition of 545 chair backs and a fenced enclosure surrounding the facility.
“We are very excited about the upgrades to our ballpark and feel confident that these upgrades will further enhance the quality game day atmosphere for our fans,” Blank said. “Most importantly, the impact that this facility will have on our student-athletes will be tremendous and should help us enjoy a very definite home field advantage when our team competes.”
Individual game tickets will go on sale for $4.00 (adults) and $2.00 (youth ages 2-12). The adult season ticket is available for $50.00. Senior citizens (age 65 and older) can purchase a season ticket for $35.00 while a youth season ticket is available for $25.00. Elon students and faculty/staff members are admitted free when presenting their Phoenix Card.
“At just $50.00, our general season ticket makes it possible for college baseball fans to see all 31 Elon games for just $1.61 per contest,” Blank said. “Without a doubt, this is the best value in Division I baseball.”
Elon is also offering a weekend ticket so fans can experience all 19 home games occurring on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday for just $30.00 – an average of $1.57 per game. A youth weekend ticket is available for $15.00.
The Phoenix will open the 2008 season on Feb. 22 when Elon begins a four-game series against LaSalle University at Latham Park. The Phoenix and the Explorers will do battle at 3 p.m. on Feb. 22, at noon and 3 p.m. on Feb. 23 and 1 p.m. on Feb. 24.
