ELON, N.C. – Elon volleyball player Sarah Schermerhorn was selected as the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office today. The senior middle blocker holds a 3.96 grade point average in economics.

Schermerhorn led the Phoenix with .303 attack percentage in two SoCon wins this past weekend against UNC Greensboro and Furman. The Colfax, N.C. native recorded 27 kills and led the team with nine blocks in two matches. Her efforts helped Elon improve to a 5-1 conference mark and move into sole possession of first place in the North Division.

The Elon volleyball team will go on the road this weekend to face Davidson on Saturday, Oct. 16, and Georgia Southern on Sunday, Oct. 17. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
