Adams Earns First Career SoCon Honor

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Elon senior first baseman Ryan Adams was rewarded for his stellar performance last week by the Southern Conference which has selected him as the league's Player of the Week for all games from March 22-28.  It is the first career weekly league award for Adams, a Burlington, N.C. native.

Adams had at least one hit in all five of Elon's games last week, batting .438 with three home runs and six RBI to lead the Phoenix to a 5-0 record.  In Elon's two-game midweek sweep of fifth-ranked Clemson, Adams belted a pinch-hit, two-run homer in game one before doubling and scoring the winning run in the 10th inning of a 4-3 Elon victory in game two.  In Saturday's doubleheader sweep of Davidson, Adams scored four runs in game one and followed that with a game-tying two-run homer in the ninth to force extra innings in an eventual win.  For the week, Adams scored 10 runs with a .609 on-base percentage and a 1.125 slugging percentage.  He is in the midst of a seven-game hitting streak.

Adams also saw time on the mound, making three appearances and earning two saves – one each at Clemson and Davidson.

Adams and the Phoenix will put its five-game winning streak on the line Tuesday night at East Carolina with a 6 p.m. contest.
