Elon, N.C. – The Elon softball team will kick off its tour of the Triad tomorrow afternoon when it takes on the North Carolina A&T Aggies in a doubleheader that begins at 2:30 p.m. The Phoenix is coming off a Southern Conference series win over the College of Charleston and has won 11 of its last 15 games on its way to a 20-7 overall record. North Carolina enters this contest with a 9-14 record that includes an 8-0, five-inning win over Akron at the Winthrop Eagle Bash last weekend.

• Elon vs. North Carolina A&T (DH); Wednesday, March 31 at 2:30 p.m.; Greensboro, N.C.

 

• Elon leads the all-time series with the Aggies 30-8 and has been the victor in six of the past seven meetings between the schools. Elon took a pair of decisions from N.C. A&T last season.

• Last season against the Aggies, Danielle Lafferty went 2-for-2 at the plate with three RBI and two runs scored. Kaitlyn Piazzolla and Ashlee Crewe each belted a home run and combined for four runs scored and three RBI over two games.

• The Phoenix reached the 20-win plateau on Sunday afternoon with a 5-4 win in the rubber game against College of Charleston. Despite leading for the entire game, it was Pam DelPizzo’s RBI-single that was the difference. Without it, CofC would have tied the game as it put two runs up in the top of the seventh.
