Elon Looks for Season Series Sweep of UNC on Tuesday

ELON, N.C. -- Elon will look to move to 7-0 this season against Atlantic Coast Conference competition when the Phoenix visits North Carolina's Boshamer Stadium for a 4 p.m. game on Tuesday afternoon.  The Phoenix enters with a 30-17 overall record while the Tar Heels sport a 27-17 mark.
 
The Series
Elon is 9-25 all-time against North Carolina in a series that dates back to March 26, 1909.  In that first meeting, UNC took a 6-5 decision over Elon.  The two teams met once in Chapel Hill last season.  The Tar Heels claimed a 15-6 win in that game.  Elon defeated UNC 4-2 in Elon earlier this year.

• Mike Melillo belted three home runs in Elon's series at Wofford to move into a tie for second in the program's history with 36 career homers.  He is tied with former teammate Bennett Davis who hit 36 in two seasons (2008-09).  His next jack will tie him with Scott Brendle (1996-99) as Elon's all-time home run king.
 
• Elon currently sports a 17-6 road record.  That is a .739 winning percentage on the road, the seventh-best road percentage in the country.  Coastal Carolina's .867 (13-2) road mark is the best in the nation.
