ELON, N.C. -- Elon's rising senior quarterback
Scott Riddle has been selected as a member of the first-team Consensus Draft Services (CDS) FCS All-American Team.
Riddle, a native of Ramseur, N.C., was a second-team All-Southern Conference selection following the 2009 campaign when he threw for 3,345 yards and 23 touchdowns. His performance helped the Phoenix to its first-ever FCS Playoff appearance and a final national ranking as high as ninth. He threw for 300 or more yards in six of Elon's 12 games and twice threw a career-best four touchdown passes.
Riddle's 278.67 yards of total offense per game rated him 13th in the nation a year ago while his 278.75 passing yards per outing ranked seventh in the country.
During Elon's playoff contest at Richmond, Riddle became the first quarterback in the history of the SoCon to throw for more than 10,000 career yards. He has now thrown for 10,033 yards in three seasons. Riddle is the SoCon record-holder with 894 career completions, 78 career touchdown passes and 1,374 career pass attempts.
Riddle will guide the Phoenix into the 2010 season at Duke on September 4.
