FINAL RESULTS
GREENVILLE, N.C. -- A final round score of 320 gave the Elon women's golf team a three-round score of 920 (310-310-320) as the Phoenix finished in 18th place at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon.
The Phoenix was led by freshman
Kristi Ingram who placed in a tie for 50th in the field of 104 golfers with a two-day total of 231 (72-77-82). Over her three rounds, Ingram carded seven birdies.
Five strokes back in a tie for 71st was
Virginia Mayer. Mayer ended the tournament with a score of 236 (80-77-79) and two birdies.
Martyna Mierzwa's 241 (80-81-80) placed her in a tie for 84th. Three of Mierzwa's seven birdies came over her final 18 holes.
In a tie for 87th was
Shannon Prunty. Prunty shot rounds of 78, 75 and 89 on her way to a tournament mark of 242. She notched three birdies. Finally,
Katie Partridge posted her best round of the tournament on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 91st with a mark of 246 (85-82-79). She tallied four birdies.
Old Dominion's Samantha Morrell took home medalist honors after shooting a 212 (71-70-71) over her three rounds.
Maryland, ranked 92nd by Golfweek, claimed the team title with a score of 879 (293-295-291) and edged out 55th-rated Georgia State (293-299-290--882) by three strokes in the field of 20. Host and 59th-ranked East Carolina finished third with a mark of 887 (292-291-304). UNCG (294-291-305--890) and No. 93 UNC Wilmington (300-291-307--898) rounded out the top five teams.
Elon bested both Georgetown (318-305-318--941) and High Point (314-312-323--949) in the team standings.
