ELON, N.C. -- The Elon baseball team celebrated its 2011 Southern Conference regular-season crown during Homecoming weekend as the squad received its championship rings.
Prior to Saturday's Homecoming football game, the team gathered at Latham Park to formally recognize the 2011 SoCon title, its fourth in eight seasons in the league. The 2011 team compiled an overall record of 36-21 and went a league-best 23-7 in SoCon play.
"It was great to have the guys back to be recognized and receive their rings," said Elon skipper
Mike Kennedy. "These guys worked extremely hard to earn those rings and this is something that they will remember for the rest of their lives."
Elon wrapped up its fourth title, and third in four years, on the final day of its regular season, defeating Furman 14-0 on May 20.
