Our SoCon Best
After winning eight of its first nine league games, Elon is off to its best Southern Conference start since joining the league for the 2004 season.  Elon's previous best nine-game start was 7-2, accomplished in both 2007 and 2008.

Nearing 500
In his 15th season as the Elon skipper, Mike Kennedy is closing in on milestone win number 500. Already Elon’s all-time winningest coach, Kennedy boasts a career record of 491-340-3 (.591).

Closing it Out
Since 2007 Elon has been very good at closing out games. The Phoenix has gone a combined 147-11 (.930) when leading after seven innings and 151-12 (.926) when holding a lead following the eighth inning.

Making it Up
Elon’s scheduled game with East Carolina on March 30 was rained out. The Phoenix and Pirates have rescheduled the contest for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6.

Homestanding
Following the make-up game with East Carolina, Elon will play eight consecutive games at Latham Park. It marks the longest homestand since the Phoenix played 10 straight at home from Feb. 27-March 11, 2008.

What a Difference a Year Makes
As is the case at most programs across the country, Elon’s offensive numbers have dropped off while pitching numbers are better. Most of that is due to the new NCAA bat regulations.

The most notable differences for Elon through 26 games: batting average is down .031 points (.292-.261), runs are down by 39 (212-173), hits are down 44 (272-228) and homers are down by 21 (35-14), ERA is down by 1.34 points (6.40-5.06), hits allowed are down 35 (293-258), runs allowed are down by 31 (190-159) and opponent's are hitting .028 points less (.306-.278).

That’s Number 25
Senior righty Ken Ferrer took over solo possession of fourth place on Elon’s career wins chart by claiming career victory number 25 on March 19 at Western Carolina. In that game Ferrer tossed six innings, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out six.

Ferrer also now ranks in a tie for eighth in program history with 198 strikeouts.

400
Elon’s 6-2 victory over Wright State on March 5 marked the 400th win of the program’s tenure at the NCAA Division I level. Elon’s first year of Division I play was the 2000 season.
