BURLINGTON, N.C. – Over 60 members of the Elon University faculty and staff community took a break from their busy schedules to enjoy the spring weather and compete in the annual Faculty/Staff Golf Tournament on Thursday, May 19.

Under beautiful sunny skies, Jon Metzger, Jim Drummond and Jonathan Miller came away with the title on the links, followed closely by Peter Tulchinsky, Michael Leonard, Barth Strempak and Wally Bixby. Many coaches and members of the athletic department mingled and teamed up with professors and staff members from an assortment of departments on campus.

“The day was awesome,” said Elon head women’s basketball coach Karen Barefoot. “The event was well planned and it was a great opportunity to bond with the faculty and staff. I enjoyed the time we got to spend together. It makes you realize how special people are at Elon.”

Said Chris Smith, Assistant Dean of Career Services for the Elon Law School, “The golf tournament is the highlight of the spring and an excellent opportunity to support Elon athletics. We work hard all year and it’s nice to share a few hours of fun with valued colleagues.”

School of Communications Associate Professor Glenn Scott noted, “After final exams and a week of grading, I always enjoy the chance to spend some active moments with friends and colleagues. It’s a chance to catch up with others, play in teams and practice forgiveness when we duff another easy wedge shot.”
