Final Results
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Battling against 10 of the nation's top 100 teams, the Elon Phoenix women's golf team concluded the JMU Eagle Landing Invite in 10th place with a three-round score of 915 (302-308-305).
The Phoenix was led by
Diana Davis who placed in a tie for 21st out of 101 players with a tournament total of 225 (75-74-76). Just two strokes back in a tie for 27th was
Lauren Lebak who ended her final round with a three-day mark of 227 (75-76-76).
Martyna Mierzwa's 235 (74-84-77) placed her in a 59th-place tie while
Virginia Mayer found herself in a tie for 69th with a 238 (84-78-76).
Finally, with a score of 243 (78-80-85),
Kristi Ingram placed 88th.
Campbell's Kaylin Yost (67-74-74--215) led from start to finish to take home individual medalist honors.
Like Yost, No. 59 South Florida led from wire-to-wire to claim the team crown. The Bulls shot an 883 (287-297-299) to edge out No. 57 Maryland (295-290-301--886) by three strokes.
The rest of the top five consisted of No. 50 East Carolina (294-302-294--890), No. 58 Campbell (294-304-295--893) and No. 51 Illinois (302-294-304--900).
Five other top-100 programs were in the 18-team field. They included No. 63 East Tennessee State (6th; 304-299-300--903), No. 75 UNCG (T7th; 304-295-310--909), No. 74 Chattanooga (T7th; 303-304-302--909), No. 97 Samford (11th; 310-303-303-916) and No. 93 James Madison (12th; 305-307-308--920).
Beginning March 19, Elon will be back on the course as a participant in the Pinehurst Challenge in Pinehurst, N.C.
