HILTON HEAD, S.C. --
Freshman Sunna Vidisdottir fired a round of even par to share the individual lead after day one of the 2013 Southern Conference Women's Golf Championship at the Moss Creek Golf Club.  As a team, Elon is in a tie for sixth with a first-round mark of 315.

Vidisdottir began her day with a bogey on hole number one, but she quickly got back to even after a birdie on the par-four third hole.  She was able to get to two-under thanks to an eagle on the par-five eighth, but posted two bogeys over her final 10 holes to end the day with an even-par 72.  Her eagle was one of just two during the entire first round of play and her 13 pars are tied for the second-most in the tournament.

Martyna Mierzwa's three birdies were tied for the second-most in the round as the senior carded a 77 to sit in a tie for 15th among the 50 players in the field.  After going four-over on the front nine, Mierzwa began her back nine with three consecutive birdies.

A round of 82 has Diana Davis in a tie for 35th following day one.  She notched one birdie as she carded a two on the par-three seventh hole.

Rounding out the field for the maroon and gold were Katie Partridge and Emily Brooks.  Partridge finished the day in a tie for 43rd with a mark of 84, while Brooks tallied an 86 and is tied for 45th with two rounds to play.

Vidisdottir shares the lead with Chattanooga's Emily McLennan.  Eight others are within three strokes of the leaders.
