BURLINGTON, N.C. – Members of the Elon Phoenix football team spent part of Monday, June 30 assisting with a food drive for Allied Churches outside of Dave's Furniture Decorator's Warehouse in Holly Hill Mall on Huffman Mill Road.

Tight end Jesse Tate, who is interning for WBAG 1150 AM this summer, helped to organize the event. Said Tate, "We advertised and promoted the event on the radio and I was able to get some of the guys on the team involved. For Allied Churches, this shows that we care. As a football team, we care about the community around us and we want to give back. For us, it's good to give back to those people who support us each Saturday."

WBAG 1150 AM broadcast live from the event and those who dropped of donations received a free biscuit courtesy of Burch Bridge Cafe or an Elon football t-shirt.
