ELON, N.C. – For the second weekend in a row, the Elon football team will host a game under the lights at Rhodes Stadium. This Saturday, the Phoenix plays host to the Charlotte 49ers in a 7 p.m. Family Weekend contest that will be televised on the American Sports Network.

Stations carrying the game on American Sports Network will be announced later this week. Fans can also listen to the game on WPCM 95.1 FM and 920 AM or at elonphoenix.com. The radio broadcast will start at 6 p.m. Fans can also listen to all Elon football games via the TuneIn Radio app. This app is free to download to your smartphone. The WSOE tailgate show can be heard on 89.3 FM starting at 5 p.m.

Phoenix faithful should make sure that they line Bank of America Drive during tailgating for the Phoenix Walk. Welcome the players to the stadium as they make their way up to Rhodes Stadium beginning at 4:30 p.m.

CONNECTIONS:
• Elon OL Jacob Ingle and Charlotte DL Devin Clegg both attended Williams High.
• Elon WR Kierre Brown is a graduate of Independence High as are Charlotte WRs Austin Duke and Workpeh Kofa.
• Elon DB Akeem Langham and Charlotte WR Juwan Foggie both graduated from High Point Central High.
• Elon LB Corey Mitchell attended Northside High with Charlotte RB Donjore Gainey.
• Elon LB Odell Benton and Charlotte DL Tank Norman both went to Richlands High.

• Charlotte's athletic trainer, A.J. Lukjanczuk, is an Elon graduate and former Phoenix athletic trainer.

A NEW HOME:
After spending the past 11 seasons as a member of the Southern Conference, Elon has joined the Colonial Athletic Association and CAA Football. The Phoenix officially transitioned to CAA Football on July 1, 2014.

The CAA geographic footprint provides an attractive match with Elon's student and alumni populations. Elon draws a large proportion of its enrollment from mid-Atlantic and New England states where many CAA teams are located. About 1,850 current students came to Elon from areas close to CAA member schools. Alumni populations in CAA cities are equally strong, with about 5,300 Elon alumni living within 50 miles of CAA member schools.

ELON VS. CHARLOTTE:
This will be the first-ever meeting between the Phoenix and 49ers.

WE'RE CLOSE
Dating back to 2013, five of Elon's last nine games have been decided by five points or less.

TACKLING MACHINE

Senior linebacker Jonathan Spain currently boasts 261 career tackles. That number ranks fifth in program history during Elon's FCS tenure. He is just four tackles shy of moving in to a tie for 10th on the school's all-time tackles chart.

USING YOUR FEET
Sophomore kicker John Gallagher accounted for all 12 of Elon's points in a 17-12 setback to North Carolina A&T as he booted a career-best four field goals. The last time an Elon kicker hit four field goals in a game was Sept. 24, 2011 when Adam Shreiner hit four of six attempts in an overtime win over The Citadel.
