ELON, N.C. – Former Elon University men's tennis standout Alberto Rojas '11 won a professional doubles tournament recently at the Mexico F11 Futures tournament held in Tehuaran, Mexico.
Teamed with Mauricio Astorga, Rojas won four matches en route to the doubles title. In the championship match, Rojas and Astorga battled back from a 6-3 loss in the first set to win the next two by scores of 6-4 and 10-8.
Additionally, Rojas has an outstanding singles performance at the Mexico F10 Futures tournament as well. Rojas advanced through the round of 32 all the way to the tournament's semifinals before falling to Luis Patino in the final four.
A native of Atlatlahucan, Mexico, Rojas had an outstanding career for the Phoenix. He earned All-Southern Conference honors multiple times in singles and doubles during his career and was named Elon's team MVP as a senior.
