ELON, N.C. – For the second straight week, the Elon Phoenix football team will face off with a ranked opponent. This Saturday, the maroon and gold will visit the 16th-ranked Richmond Spiders for a 3:30 p.m. CAA Football contest.

The radio broadcast will start at 2:30 p.m. Fans can also listen to all Elon football games via the TuneIn Radio app. This app is free to download to your smartphone.

ELON VS. RICHMOND
Elon and Richmond have played five times prior to this season's meeting. The Spiders have won all five contests, including a 30-10 decision at Rhodes Stadium last season. The two first met on Oct. 20, 1928 and then did not meet again until Aug. 30, 2008.

OH CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN
The Phoenix football squad elected two captains for the 2015 season. Serving as captain for the second year in a row is senior defensive back Miles Williams. He will be joined by first-year captain, junior linebacker John Silas.

Each week the Phoenix will also name a game-week captain and are listed below:

• at Wake Forest – B.J. Bennett
• at Gardner-Webb – Rob Sullivan
• vs. North Carolina A&T – Corey Mitchell
• vs. Towson – Ikenna Nwokeji
• at New Hampshire – Chris Blair
• at Richmond – Warren Messer

ELON GETS SECOND CONSECUTIVE TOP-25 OPPONENT
• The Phoenix is making its shortest conference road trip of the year with its visit to Richmond
• Elon was the Spiders' opponent in the first game ever played in Robins Stadium
• Richmond has been ranked in the top-16 in each of the last four meetings prior to this year, including three top-10 rankings
• Three Phoenix players had double-digit tackle performances last year against Richmond – Chris Blair (14), John Silas (10) and Jonathan Spain (10)
• This matchup pairs a set of brothers against each other as Elon offensive lineman Jacob Ingle's brother Will is a defensive lineman for Richmond

NOTES FROM LAST GAME
• Linebacker John Silas moved in to a tie for seventh on the program's FCS assisted tackles chart and now has 120 assisted stops for his career (matching Blake Thompson, 2009-12)
• Chris Blair posted the sixth double-digit tackle game of his career at UNH by making 10 stops
• Warren Messer and Jack Williams each posted the first sacks of their careers
• Miles Williams intercepted the third pass of his career, and first since 2012
• The Phoenix now has 16 sacks in five games, four shy of its total of 20 from 2014
• Daniel Thompson threw the first touchdown pass of his career

INT STREAK ENDED
Red-shirt freshman quarterback Connor Christiansen (Fishers, Ind.) began his career with 105 pass attempts without throwing an interception. In fact, Elon quarterbacks had attempted 118 total passes without an interception before Chrisitansen had a pass picked off at New Hampshire.

The program mark of 210 consecutive passes without an interception was set by Mike Quinn in 2013, a number that also set a Southern Conference record.
