ELON, N.C. – The Elon women's lacrosse team (4-2) continues a three-game homestand when it welcomes Holy Cross (0-6) to Rudd Field in its next game on Saturday, March 12. The opening draw is set for 11 a.m.
 
Last Time Out
The Elon women's lacrosse team was not able to overcome a slow start as the maroon and gold fell in a 12-4 final to Albany in its last game on March 4 at Rudd Field. The Phoenix finished with 21 total shots, 12 on goal, claimed the advantage in ground balls, 13-10, and finished 10-of-13 in clear attempts. Shelby Scanlin, Stephanie Asher, Kelsey Dupere and Sloane Kessler all contributed to the maroon and gold offense with one goal each, while Maeve Cowley tallied an assist. Scanlin also won a team-high two draws and picked up two ground balls in the game. Elon goalie Rachel Ramirez took just her second loss on the season after seven saves and tallied two caused turnovers and a game-high four ground balls.
 
Scouting the Crusaders
Holy Cross has struggled so far this season, falling in all six of its games, including an 8-7 defeat at Davidson on Tuesday evening. The Crusaders' loss to the Wildcats was the second game this season in which the team has lost by one goal. Kaitlin Concilio leads the team with 11 points this year after five goals and a team-high six assists. Keely Connors and Tess McKay have each netted seven goals on the season along with seven and six ground balls, respectively. Julia Maloney has played the most minutes in goal and has 51 saves, while Maddy Smith has a team-high 10 caused turnovers. Anna Johnson leads at the draw with eight draw controls and another team-high 12 ground balls this season.

Sunday marks the first all-time meeting between the Phoenix and the Crusaders.
 
Conference/National Rankings
Just a few games into the season, the Phoenix ranks near the top of the Colonial Athletic Association in several statistical categories. The team is second in ground balls (14.83/game) and third in shots (24.83/game). Stephanie Asher ranks 53rd nationally and sixth in the league with her 15 goals this year and is third in the CAA in scoring with 2.5 goals per game, while Sloane Kessler ranks sixth with her 2.33 goals/game. Asher and Kessler rank first and sixth, respectively, in shots per game with 7.17 and 4.33, while Rachel Ramirez is fifth in saves (5.67/game) and second in ground balls (2.83/game).
