ELON – The Elon women's lacrosse team and head coach Josh Hexter announced the addition of Gianna Coburn as an assistant coach Monday.

"We are excited to welcome Gianna to our lacrosse family," Hexter said. "She brings great energy and knowledge to our staff and players."

Coburn comes to Elon after finishing her college playing career at Queens in the spring. A goalkeeper, Coburn appeared in 33 games, making 17 starts. She racked up 138 saves and 30 ground balls in goal for the Royals.

Coburn was a two-time IWLCA Academic Honor Roll honoree (2024-25, 2025-26) and a 2025-26 Academic All-Atlantic Sun selection during her time with the Royals. She was also a member of Queens' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

"I'm so excited and grateful to be joining the Elon lacrosse family," Coburn said. "Thank you to Coach Hexter and Coach Brodsky for this amazing opportunity!"

Prior to joining the Phoenix staff, Coburn had experience as the head coach for the Lady Reign Lacrosse 2027 select team in New Windsor, New York, and as an assistant coach for Team 91 Charlotte in Charlotte, North Carolina.
