ELON, N.C. – The Elon women's lacrosse team (5-3) travels to Davidson, N.C., for its next game on Saturday, March 19, to take on the Davidson Wildcats (3-3) in a 2 p.m. game in Richardson Stadium.
 
Last Time Out
Elon was not able to knock off its second ranked opponent of the season, falling to No. 4 North Carolina, 13-2, in its last game on March 15 at Rudd Field. The Phoenix took 17 shots in the game and won the advantage in ground balls, 13-11. Elon finished 9-of-17 in clear attempts and claimed four draws in the game. Goalie Rachel Ramirez set a new program single-game high with five caused turnovers and also matched her season-high with five ground balls. Now 5-3 on the season, the junior tallied seven saves between the posts after facing 20 shots on goal. Nicole Sinacori and Stephanie Asher netted the maroon and gold's two scores on the night, while Abby Godfrey, Lane Huger and Sloane Kessler all claimed two ground balls in the game.
 
Scouting the Wildcats
Davidson is 3-3 on the season, coming off a 7-5 loss to Lehigh in its last game on Tuesday. The Wildcats' wins this season came against Kennesaw State, Holy Cross and High Point. Davidson's goalie tandem of Rose Woolson and Dana Stasieluk combine for the 12th best save percentage in the nation with a 50.6 percent mark. Individually, Woolson ranks 15th with a .500 save percentage and has a 3-2 record between the posts this season. Christine Molinari leads the team with 16 points this year after six goals and a team-high 10 assists. Emma Sissman has netted the most goals for the Wildcats with 14 goals followed by nine goals and four assists for 13 points by Lucy Sexton. Sissman also leads Davidson at the draw, tallying 20 draw controls, while Woolson has a team-high 13 ground balls.
 
The Series
The all-time series between the Phoenix and the Wildcats is even, 1-1. Davidson won the first meeting in Elon's inaugural season on March 22, 2014, in Davidson, N.C., with a 15-8 final. Nearly a year later on March 21, 2015, the maroon and gold tallied a 10-5 victory in Rhodes Stadium after three goals by Stephanie Asher, two each from Abby Godfrey and Sloane Kessler and three assists by Nicole Sinacori.
 
Conference/National Rankings
At this point in the season, the Phoenix ranks near the top of the Colonial Athletic Association in several statistical categories. The team is third in ground balls (15.12/game) and fourth in shots (24.50/game). Stephanie Asher ranks 21st nationally and second in the league with her 21 goals this year and is second in the CAA in scoring with 2.62 goals per game, while Sloane Kessler ranks eighth with her 2.0 goals/game. Asher also ranks first in shots per game with 7.5, while Rachel Ramirez is third in saves (6.0/game), first in ground balls (3.12/game) and second in caused turnovers (2.0/game).
