ELON, N.C. – The Elon University Department of Athletics held the third annual Phoenix Club Chopper Dropper and Elon Athletics Invitational on Friday, Aug. 5, at Alamance Country Club in Burlington, N.C.
A helicopter hovered over the driving range at Alamance Country Club, dropping 330 golf balls onto a designated drop zone with a flag pin. A total of twelve people who purchased golf balls for $100/each in the months leading up to the event won a combined $20,000 in cash prizes. Staci Collins took home the grand prize of $10,000 after her ball landed 5.75 inches from the pin.

Prior to the Phoenix Club Chopper Dropper, the Elon Department of Athletics hosted the Elon Athletics Invitational golf tournament at Alamance Country Club. The Texas Scramble tournament consisted of 26 teams. The evening concluded with the Chopper Dropper event and a social inside Alamance Country Club.
