Box Score ELON, N.C. – Elon University women's soccer fell to 11-4-2 overall and 5-2-1 in conference play after losing to Delaware 2-0 on Thursday, Oct. 24.
Prior to this game, the Phoenix clinched a berth into the upcoming CAA Tournament beginning Nov. 3.
HIGHLIGHTS
Delaware jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 11
th minute when Dani Kabat snuck past the Phoenix's defense and attempted a shot that was just out of Elon's reach. The goal put the Blue Hens on top early in the first half.
With the Phoenix down early,
Beky Myers found some space behind Delaware's defense and fired a shot on goal. Blue Hens keeper Kamryn Stablein was just able to keep it out of goal to maintain an early lead.
Elon entered the half trailing 1-0.
The Blue Hens extended their lead in the 56
th minute on Gabby Johnson's goal. The play put Elon down 2-0 early in the second half.
The Phoenix nearly got on the board from the 71-74 minute when
Hannah Doherty and
Bethany Harford attempted three shots in a three-minute span.
Katrin Hauksdottir made seven saves in goal for the Phoenix, moving her season total to 51 saves.
