ELON, N.C. – Elon University women's tennis concluded this weekend's Jimmy Powell Invitational on Sunday, Oct. 6.

On day two, the Phoenix had four athletes win their final matchups in singles, and two duos win their matchups in doubles.
Sofia Edo led the way for Elon, picking up another victory after winning both of her singles matches on day one.

THE RUNDOWN
In singles play,Â
Sofia Edo won her final singles match of the weekend, earning a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory over Davidson's Nicole Krykanov. Edo also won both of her singles matches yesterday as well. Her first win came over Longwood's Maria Saez 6-0 and 7-6(3), while her second was against Richmond's Marta Buendia 5-7, 6-4 and 12-10. Edo rounded out the weekend with a perfect 3-0 record in singles action.

Uma Nayar won her second match of the weekend 6-4, 6-1 over Davidson's Emma Heiderscheit. Nayar also picked up a win in singles play yesterday, defeating Longwood's Marija Venta in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2.
She finished up the weekend with a 2-1 record in singles.
Nicole Shiau and
Alex Koniaev also picked up wins in singles play on the day. Koniaev defeated Davidson's Alexandra Abele in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, while Shiau outlasted Davidson's Alyssa Hahn 6-7(5), 6-1, 12-10.

In doubles action, Koniaev and Nayar combined to defeat Davidson's Alexandra Abele and Samantha Armas 6-4 to pick up their first doubles win on the day. The duo also defeated Longwood's Marija Venta and Jamie Breunig 6-4 to earn their second doubles victory of the weekend. Nayar and Koniaev finished up doubles play this weekend with a perfect 2-0 record.Â

Kiana Rizzolo and
Nicole Shiau earned a win after defeating Davidson's Emma Heiderschett and Franny Shea 6-1.

The Phoenix will have a couple of weeks off before returning to action on Oct. 24 when it travels to Winston-Salem, N.C. for the ITA Carolina Regionals.
