Owen Lorenz highlights the team's flight down to Santo Domingo on Saturday.
Day One (November 23)

Our journey to the Dominican Republic started by heading to Raleigh/Durham Airport at 7am. Prior to leaving from RDU we learned that freshman catcher Willie Havens has never flown on an airplane. Upon our arrival at Miami International airport we were eager to hear what he had to say from his first experience. He told us that it was exhilarating at takeoff and the few bumps we encountered through the duration of the flight. At Miami International Airport we had an extended layover that gave us an opportunity to grab some food and relax before our final flight to Santo Domingo. The flight was only 2 hours from Miami, but felt slightly longer for us due to the excitement we collectively had for the trip.

Immediately landing at Santo Domingo Airport we all knew that the Dominican lifestyle was going to be a culture shock. After passing through customs we met up with the XL travel tours group and they escorted us to a bus that brought us to our hotel. We arrived at the hotel just shy of midnight to cap off a long, but exciting day of travel.
As the only member of the 2015-16 Elon Baseball team that came to the Dominican Republic, I look forward to sharing those same experiences with a different team and creating new memories that will last us a lifetime!
