LAS VEGAS, NEV.- Outscoring the Lady Rebels 17-12 in the fourth quarter, the Elon University women's basketball team came out on top against UNLV on day one of the Lady Rebel Round-Up (50-44), Nov. 30, 2019.
 
Ariel Colón finished with a season-high 15 points, shooting a perfect 4-4 from beyond the arc. Maya Johnson fell just 1 rebound short of a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds.
 
UNLV's Rodjanae Wade was the lone double-digit scorer for the Lady Rebels. The center led the team in both points (15) and boards (8).

THE RUNDOWN
The turning point in the game came at the start of the fourth quarter when Elon went on an 8-2 run to take its largest lead of the game (7) with 7:28 left in regulation (41-34). The Lady Rebels answered with a 9-3 run to cut the Phoenix lead down to one (44-43), but points from Johnson, Brie Perpignan, and Jaylin Powell helped ice the game for the Phoenix.
 
Despite the point difference being as high as five in the first 30 minutes of play, the Phoenix ended each quarter with a one-point advantage. UNLV had a chance to end the third quarter with the lead, but a buzzer-beating three ball by Colón put Elon up 33-32.
 
UNLV took their largest lead of the game in the opening quarter (5, 5:44). The Lady Rebels' next-largest advantage came in the third quarter when UNLV lead 32-30.

NOTES 
-Elon now stands at 3-3 on the season.
-Today's win snaps a three-game losing streak.
-Elon had the lead for 27:40 out of the 40 minutes of competition.
-As a team, Elon recorded season-best percentages from beyond the arc (.545) and from behind the charity stripe (.800).
-The Phoenix outrebounded the Lady Rebels 40-28.
-Elon forced 14 turnovers, which resulted in 15 points for the Phoenix.
-The overall series between the Phoenix and Lady Rebels is now evened up at one.

Elon will face the winner of the St. John's/IUPUI matchup on day two of the Lady Rebel Round-Up. Game time will either be 2:00 or 4:30 p.m. EST on Sunday, Dec.1.
