RALEIGH, N.C.- The Elon University women's basketball team held nationally-ranked NC State to its season-low in points scored, but the Wolfpack came out on top 62-49 in Reynolds Coliseum on Sunday, Dec. 15. NC State entered the game with a 9-0 record, ranking ninth in the nation.

Brie Perpignan finished the game leading the Phoenix with 14 points, followed by
Jaylin Powell and Ariel Colón with nine apiece.
Jada Graves also chipped in four points while tallying a team-best nine rebounds and tying Colón in steals (2). Â

NC State's Elissa Cunane totaled a game-high 28 points and 16 rebounds, shooting 9-15 from the field. Â
THE RUNDOWN
The Phoenix opened the second quarter with an 8-0 run to give it a 16-15 lead with 6:11 remaining in the second quarter. After the teams traded baskets, the Wolfpack's Jakia Brown-Turner hit a three ball to jumpstart a 15-4 run and give NC State a 34-23 advantage at the half.

Colón began the third with five points in the opening minute to cut the NC State lead to six (34-28). With Elon trailing 37-33, Powell and Colón both made a pair of free throws to bring Elon back to within one point of the Wolfpack (37-36). NC State ended the quarter with a five-point lead (42-37).

 With approximately six minutes left on the clock, NC State went on a 10-0 run to make the score 56-43. with 3:28 left on the clock. Both teams scored six points in the remaining time, but the Wolfpack held on to win the contest. Â
