ELON, N.C. – Elon University football signed 12 future student-athletes on Wednesday, Dec. 18, to National Letters of Intent to play for the Phoenix next season. The list of signees includes six from the state of North Carolina. Three signees will also enroll early for the spring semester.
 
Along with the six signees from the state of North Carolina, the Phoenix also signed three from Georgia, one from New Jersey, one from Mississippi, and one from Pennsylvania. Among the 12 athletes, two of them come to the program as defensive backs, two as running backs, two as linebackers, one as an offensive tackle, one as an offensive lineman, one as a defensive end, one as a defensive lineman, one as a quarterback, and one as a wide receiver.
 
"I'm real excited about this recruiting class. Our staff did a great job on the road identifying players with talent, character, and passion for the game of football," said head coach Tony Trisciani. "We addressed our needs at all three levels on defense with two high-motor and disruptive defensive lineman, two athletic linebackers and two defensive backs with good length, speed and coverage skills. Offensively, we have added a big strong inside lineman and an experienced junior college tackle along with an athletic quarterback, an outside wide receiver, and two dynamic running backs with legitimate speed. This class adds size, speed, and athleticism to our team and addressed some critical needs."

DJ Moyer - Highlights

Reagan High School | Winston-Salem, N.C.
-A running back from Reagan High School in Winston-Salem for head coach Josh McGee.
-Earned All-Conference as a junior and senior after garnering All-County honors all four years at Reagan.
-Also participated in track & field, standing out in the 100-meter dash with a 10.5-second time, earning state championship titles in the 4x100 and 4x200 relays, and winning a national championship in the 4x200.

Wendell (Trey) Alsbrooks, III - Highlights

-An outside linebacker at Weddington High School for head coach Andy Capone.
-A three-time 3AA football state champion, earning All-Conference nods as a sophomore, junior, and senior.
-Also named an All-County honoree as a junior.
-Finished his high school career with 340 tackles, 30 sacks, 32 tackles for loss, six forced fumbles, five touchdowns, and three blocked punts.

-An offensive lineman and three-year team captain from Cape Fear High School for head coach Jake Thomas.
-Competed on the N.C. Shrine Bowl team.
-A four-year varsity athlete, earned All-Conference as a sophomore, junior and senior while earning All-Region honors his final two years with the program.
-Also participated in track & field at Cape Fear.

-A New Jersey state leader in sacks as a senior while also breaking his high school record.
-Named All-South Jersey honoree in his final season at Salem High School, earning all-conference status twice.
-Father, Damien, played for the New York Giants and New England Patriots.

-A linebacker from Denmark High School for head coach Terry Crowder.
-Capped his high school career with 230 tackles, 13.0 sacks, 34 QB hurries and 25.0 tackles for loss.
-Earned First Team All-County and All-Region as a junior and senior.
-Also competed in track & field at Denmark.

-Finishing his senior season with four interceptions and ran one back for a touchdown, earning All-Conference honors twice in his career.
-Father, Frantz Denis, played baseball at Pfeiffer and is cousins with former Oklahoma basketball star and current Sacramento King Buddy Hield.

-Closed his career with five interceptions in Vance's defensive backfield.
-Brother, Carl, is a senior tight end at North Carolina and sister, Erin, ran track at East Carolina.
