SETTING THE STAGE
- Saturday's matchup will mark the 5th all-time meeting between Elon and Hampton. The Phoenix and Pirates have split the last two meetings after Elon won the first two matchups. Elon is 3-1 overall against Hampton and has won both matchups played at Rhodes Stadium in the series.
- The Phoenix and Pirates last met on Sept. 27, 2025, with Elon cruising to a 41-20 victory at Rhodes Stadium. After trailing 20-17 in the third quarter, the Phoenix rallied off 24 straight points to close the game.
- In the 2025 meeting against the Pirates, Phoenix running back Jimmyll Williams had a career day with 172 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown in the win. The 172 yards are an Elon career-high for Williams.
- Williams' individual performance highlighted a dominant ground attack by the Phoenix that included rushing for a season-high 288 yards and four of Elon's five touchdowns coming on the ground.
- A win over Hampton this Saturday would secure a winning record for Elon at Rhodes Stadium in 2026. A fourth home win would be the second most by a Tony Trisciani coached team at Elon, trailing only the 5-0 home record posted in 2022.
- Hampton enters Saturday's contest with a 1-8 overall record and a 0-5 mark in CAA play under first-year head coach Van Malone.
LIGHTS, KAM-ERA, ACTION
- Elon freshman running back Kamerin McDowell-Moore continued his impressive debut season against North Carolina A&T, rushing for 102 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries. His two-yard touchdown run on fourth-and-goal gave Elon a 10-3 lead in the third quarter. The performance marked his fifth consecutive 100-yard rushing game and sixth overall this season.
- Through nine games, the Tarboro native has rushed for 1,182 yards and eight touchdowns on 183 carries, averaging 6.5 yards per attempt and 131.3 yards per game. He leads all FCS freshman rushers in each of those categories. McDowell-Moore has also caught 13 passes for 80 yards, giving him 1,262 yards from scrimmage this season.
- McDowell-Moore was named to the Jerry Rice Award watch list, presented annually to the national freshman of the year at the FCS level. He is the fourth Phoenix in the last four seasons to earn a spot on the watch list, joining Marco Patierno (2023), TJ Thomas Jr. (2024) and Landen Clark (2025).
- McDowell-Moore became the first Elon true freshman to surpass 1,000 rushing yards in a season since Bobby Hedrick in 1977. His five consecutive 100-yard rushing performances are the longest streak by a Phoenix running back since at least 2024.
- The freshman turned in a record-setting performance at New Hampshire, rushing for a career-high 273 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries. His 273 yards were the fourth-most in a single game in Elon history and the most by a freshman in program history. He followed that performance with 162 rushing yards against Wofford, 164 at Stanford and 102 at North Carolina A&T.
MIDSEASON ALL-AMERICAN HONORS
- Elon redshirt junior linebacker Brodie Carroll earned First Team Phil Steele Midseason FCS All-American honors, highlighting three Phoenix players recognized through the first eight games of the 2026 season. Redshirt junior defensive back Tony Hart III received Second Team honors, while McDowell-Moore was named to the Fourth Team.
- Carroll has been a leader of Elon's defense this season, recording a team-high 75 tackles, including 37 solo stops, through eight games. He has added seven tackles for loss, two sacks, six pass breakups, and three quarterback hurries. Carroll was named CAA and National Defensive Player of the Week following a career-high 16-tackle performance against Sacred Heart on Sept. 19.
- Hart III earned Second Team recognition after recording 48 tackles, including 34 solo stops, through eight games. The redshirt junior has added 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, three pass breakups and a quarterback hurry. Hart III most recently tied for the team lead with eight tackles at Stanford and has helped anchor an Elon defense that has held four opponents to fewer than 100 rushing yards this season.
- McDowell-Moore was named a Fourth Team All-American and was one of just two freshman offensive players selected to any of Phil Steele's midseason teams.

- Over its last five home games dating back to the 2025 season finale, Elon's defense has allowed just 78 points, an average of 15.6 points per game. The Phoenix has surrendered an average of 245.2 yards per contest, while recording 33 tackles for loss and 17 sacks. Elon has held three of those five opponents to fewer than 100 rushing yards and four to fewer than 20 points.
