ELON, N.C. – Closing its three-game homestand to open the month of March, Elon University women's lacrosse will host third-ranked North Carolina on Tuesday, March 12, at 6 p.m. at Rudd Field on Phoenix All-Access.

-Battling back and forth throughout a fast-paced first half, No. 16 Florida pulled away late in the opening frame and never looked back on the way to a 15-5 win at Rudd Field.
-A trio of 4-0 runs helped the Gators to the win with two of those coming late in the first half.
SCOUTING NORTH CAROLINA
-The Tar Heels are 5-1 on the season with wins over James Madison, High Point, East Carolina, Northwestern and Virginia. The lone loss came to Maryland, where UNC fell 13-12 in overtime on the road to the Terrapins.
-Jamie Ortega leads UNC with 28 goals and seven assists for 35 points on the year. Katie Hoeg also has 10 goals and 19 assists for 29 points.
-In goal, Taylor Moreno has started all six games and has an even .500 save percentage for the year.
THE SERIES
-North Carolina leads the all-time series 5-0 going back to Elon's first year of competition in 2014.
-In battling this year, Elon and North Carolina have met each of the six seasons Elon has played in program history.
-North Carolina is one of four programs Elon has played every season of competition since 2014. The others include Duke, High Point and Coastal Carolina.
MAE-KING A NAME

Mae McGlynn has burst onto the scene in 2019 with 21 goals across Elon's first seven games, scoring five on the road at Campbell, five against Winthrop and four more against Davidson.
-The sophomore from Skaneateles, N.Y., scored just two times during her 2018 rookie campaign.
-She was named CAA Player of the Week on Feb. 11 after her five goals in the win over Campbell.
PRESEASON ALL-CAA LISTS
-Elon was picked third in the CAA for the third consecutive season. The Phoenix has reached the CAA Tournament as the No. 3 seed in each of the last three seasons and has battled second-seeded Towson on all three occasions in the semifinals.

Quinn Daly was picked as a Preseason All-CAA honorable mention in 2019 after earning CAA All-Rookie accolades after her first season in 2018.
CAA WEEKLY HONORS

Mae McGlynn was named the CAA Player of the Week on Feb. 11 after her five-goal performance against Campbell in the season opener.

Bella Feldman was tabbed CAA Rookie of the Week on Feb. 11 after scoring four goals at Campbell in her collegiate debut.

Kaley Thompson picked up CAA Rookie of the Week on Feb. 26 after a week with four goals, five assists and 13 draw controls in Elon's two games. Against Winthrop, Thompson finished with four goals, four assists and eight draw controls.
LEFTOVERS FROM 2018

Stephanie Asher led the Phoenix in scoring with 39 goals and eight assists for 47 points. The Glenelg, Md., native was named a First Team All-CAA performer three times in her career and earned Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List honors twice as a junior and senior. In her four years in maroon and gold, Asher scored a program record 179 goals and had 32 assists for 211 points. She also had 155 draw controls, including 76 in her senior seasons in 2018.

ELON ON LAX SPORTS NETWORK
-This season, Elon will be features on Lax Sports Network twice in April during CAA play.
-First, the Phoenix will meet Towson on Friday, April 12, at 7 p.m. at Johnny Unitas Stadium.
-Elon's second appearance on LSN will come Friday, April 19, when it meets defending national champion James Madison at 5 p.m.
-The 2019 CAA Championships in Harrisonburg, Va., will also air on LSN.
UP NEXT
