ELON, N.C. – After being named a Second Team All-American by Perfect Game/Rawlings on Wednesday morning, June 12, Elon University baseball alum
George Kirby received two more honors this afternoon as he was selected to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's (NCBWA) All-American Third Team and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-Region Team.
This marks his third All-American honor after Baseball America included him as a Third Team All-American on Monday.
The NCBWA's 22nd Annual All-American squads included two rounds of voting by the organization and are comprised of 72 student-athletes representing nineteen different conferences. Kirby is one of seven conference pitchers of the year to be selected as well as one of 12 first-round draft picks. Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball, with membership open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport.
Additionally, Kirby was included in the ABCA/Rawlings Atlantic All-Region First Team, as voted on by members of the ABCA. He is now nominated for the ABCA/Rawlings All-America Honors, which be announced on Saturday, June 15. The finalists for the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. I Gold Glove Team will be announced via Twitter on Monday, June 17, and the Gold Glove winners in all divisions will be announced on Wednesday, June 19. In all divisions, ABCA/Rawlings National Pitchers of the Year will be announced on Monday, June 24, followed by ABCA/Rawlings National Players of the Year on Wednesday, June 26.

The ABCA, founded in 1945, is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 11,000 members represent all 50 states and 23 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include eight divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School and Youth.
