Elon Tries To Keep Hot Start Going Against Furman Sunday

ELON, N.C. – Now 3-0 on the season for the first time in program history, Elon University women's soccer will travel to Greenville, S.C. for a 5 p.m. matchup with the Paladins on Sunday, Sept. 1.

- Elon won its third consecutive game over Radford on Thursday, Aug. 29,
Carson Jones (27') and Taylor Paradoski (67') each scored goals to propel the Phoenix to a 2-1 victory in its first road contest of the season

SCOUTING FURMAN
- Radford enters its 15th season under head coach Andrew Burr, and currently sit at 2-1 on the season.
- Furman has won back-to-back games 2-1, over College of Charleston and Campbell respectively.
- Isabella Gutierrez leads the team in goals (2), assists (2) and points (6). Caitlyn Reilly ranks second on the team in points with five, scoring two goals and adding one assist.
 
THE SERIES
- This will be the 17th meeting between these two programs, with Elon trailing in the series with a 4-11-1 overall record.
 
KEY POINTS FOR 2019
-The Phoenix are 3-0 on the season, marking the best start in program history
- Carson Jones leads the team in goals with two after scoring in each of the last two games
- Hannah Doherty has two assists on the season to lead the team
- Keeper Katrin Hauksdottir has three wins in goal for the Phoenix, providing four saves and allowing only one goal.

CAA AWARDS
- Freshman Bethany Harford was named the CAA Rookie of the Week after scoring the game-winning goal in overtime of a 1-0 win over Canisius.
- Elon was picked to finish ninth in the CAA for this upcoming season, the league announced in their preseason poll.
- Hannah Doherty was picked as a Preseason All-CAA honoree for the upcoming 2019-20 season, after earning CAA Second Team accolades last year.

UP NEXT
- The Phoenix travel to Greenville, S.C. this Sunday, Sept. 1, for a 5 p.m. matchup with the Paladins. Elon will then head to Richmond, Va. for a 4 p.m. matchup with the Spiders. That game is scheduled to take place on Thursday, Sept. 5.
