Box Score ELON, N.C. – Elon University women's soccer fell to 7-3-1 on the season after losing to Hofstra on Sunday, Sept. 29.
HIGHLIGHTS
Hofstra jumped out to an early lead after Sabrina Bryan scored the game's opening goal in the seventh minute. A few seconds later, Hofstra's Lucy Porter converted a penalty kick to extend the lead to 2-0 early.
In the 12
th minute, Hofstra's Miri Taylor scored to put the Pride up 3-0 early in the first half.
Elon's defense held strong from the 15
th through 40
th minutes, not allowing Hofstra to score during that span. The Phoenix held Hofstra shotless between those times to keep the score within striking distance.
Hofstra's Brianna Passaro scored in the 44
th minute to extend the Pride's lead to 4-0 heading into halftime.
Elon's first scoring opportunity came in the 53
rd minute when
Avery Davis was able to get into the box and fire a shot that forced a block from a Pride defender.
The Pride extended their lead to 5-0 in the 56
th minute when Sabrina Bryan scored on an assist from Jordan Littleboy.
The Phoenix defense didn't allow Hofstra to score from the 57
th minute until the end of the match despite facing twelve shots during that span.
Katrin Hauksdottir and
Valentina Estrada both appeared in goal for the Phoenix, combining for seven saves on the afternoon.
