ELON, N.C. – With the score knotted at 2-2,
Elon University baseball erupted for 14-straight runs en route to a 16-4 victory over Delaware on Friday, Feb. 14 at Latham Park.
Eight Phoenix collected a hit in the game, with seven players recording multi-hit efforts.

Garrett Stonehouse,
Matt Oldham,
Jack Roberts and
Adam Spurlin also finished 2-for-3;

Nick Cicci turned in 2-for-4 outings; and
Alex Iadisernia batted 1-for-4 with a double. Spurlin and Galason had the big swings for the maroon and gold, with both belting three-run homers.
On the bump,
Kyle Greenler pitched 3.0 innings of relief to earn the win. The sophomore allowed one earned run on two hits and two walks while striking out five Hornets batters. Starter
Jared Wetherbee tossed 4.0 innings and was tagged for two runs with six punch outs in the no decision.
Jayson Arendt and
Owen Lorenz also made appearances.
How It Happened: Elon opened the scoring with two runs in the home half of the first inning. After Iadisernia walk and Satterfield singled to left, the pair moved up on a balk by DSU's starting pitcher, Corey Loper Jr. Stonehouse then smacked a hard-hit ball right back to Loper, who was unable to make the play as Iadisernia came home. Satterfield then tagged up on an Oldham sacrifice fly to left for the 2-0 lead.
The visitors responded with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth. A leadoff walk, a single down the right-field line, and a wild pitch placed runners on second and third. After a bloop single to short plated one runner, Elon was unable to turn the double play, allowing DSU to pull even. That didn't last long, though, as the Phoenix proceeded to load the bases to start the bottom half of the frame. Roberts brought home two with a single back up the middle and Spurlin followed with a shot to left. A Galason singled through the left side chased away Loper, and Iadisernia greeted DSU reliever Austin Warrington with a double to right. Galason ran over the Hornets catcher, who was unable to secure the throw to the plate. With runners on the corners, Stonehouse then added another tally as he dropped a sac bunt.
After hanging the seven-spot in the fourth, Elon continued the damage with six more runs in the fifth. With the bases the juiced, Cicci came around as the Hornets elected to get the force at second. Galason then went deep to tack on three more, and Oldham drove in a pair with a two-out single back up the middle.
Notes: The game marked the collegiate debuts for Iadisernia,
