ELON, N.C.- The Elon University women's basketball team suffered a 69-45 loss to Northeastern on Sunday, Feb. 16.

Ariel Colón was the lone Elon player that scored in the double digits. The guard totaled a game-best 18 points, with 16 of them coming in the first half. She shot 9-of-18 from the field, matching her career high for field goals that she set against Northeastern on Jan. 17.

Saadia Munford and
Brie Perpignan were the other two of the top three Elon scorers, chipping in nine points apiece over the course of the game. On defense, Munford also set a new career high for blocks (2) in addition to tying her personal best for steals (4).

Shannon Todd paced the Husky offense with a team-high 16 points, making 4-of-5 field goals and three-of-four shots from beyond the arc. Â
THE RUNDOWN
Despite Colón's strong performance in the first half, Elon took its only lead of the game when Colón scored the first two points of the afternoon. Less than a minute after she scored, Todd made a three pointer to give the lead to Northeastern that stayed with them for the rest of the contest.Â
After trailing by as much as 16 going into halftime, the Phoenix started the third with a 6-0 run to bring Elon to within seven points of the Huskies (34-27). However, Northeastern answered with a 15-3 run to give the Huskies a 19-point advantage going into the last 10 minutes of play (49-30). The Huskies maintained their double-digit lead the rest of the way, resulting in their victory.

-The Phoenix now holds a 12-12 (7-6 CAA) record on the season.
-With the loss, Elon now owns a 7-5 record against the Huskies.
-In addition to the game being the Phoenix's designated Play4Kay game, Elon basketball alumna Venessa Corbett's jersey was also retired prior to the start of the contest. Corbett is the only player in program history to hold five career records including points, points per game, field goals made, field goals attempted and rebounds per game. One of two players in program history to surpass the 2,000-point mark, her 2,430 career points has stood for 37 years. Allie Ford is the only player who came within 500 points of Corbett, totaling 2,020 in her career.
