ELON, N.C.- The Elon University women's basketball team came out victorious in its final meeting of the regular season against UNCW, 60-57, on Friday, Feb. 7.
 
Ariel Colón led the Phoenix with a game-best 21 points, shooting 6-of-12 from the field and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. Kayla Liles was just eight points behind her with 13 in addition to leading both teams in rebounds (8).
 
UNCW's Gigi Smith paced the Seahawks with 15 points, followed by Ahyiona Vason with 12.  

THE RUNDOWN
Elon went on a 6-0 run in the second quarter to take its largest lead of the game (6) with 2:14 on the clock. Jada Graves made back-to-back layups, while Liles scored a field goal of her own to make the score 28-22. After the teams traded three pointers, the Seahawks outscored the Phoenix 6-0 to tie the game at 31 going into halftime.
 
After taking a 43-40 lead at the end of the third quarter, UNCW grew its lead to as high as six in the first three minutes of the fourth. The Phoenix chipped away at the Seahawk lead, eventually regaining the lead with 3:01 on the clock. Elon went on to outscore UNCW 10-2 in addition to making two free throws as time expired to secure the win.

NOTES 
-The Phoenix now has an 10-11 (5-5 CAA) record on the season.
-15 of Colón's points came in the second half. The guard has now posted six consecutive double-digit scoring performances.
-10 lead changes occurred over the course of the game.
-The Phoenix collectively shot .392 from the field.
-Elon outrebounded UNCW, 41-33.
-With the win, the Phoenix holds a 13-7 all-time record against the Seahawks.
