ELON, N.C. – Elon University women's tennis continued its fall season this weekend, Oct. 9-10, at the Jimmy Powell Invitational at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on Elon's campus.
"We enjoyed hosting the Jimmy Powell Invitational this weekend," head coach
Elizabeth Anderson began. "We were thrilled to see Sibel and Lizette win the tournament in doubles and for Sibel and Ali to go undefeated in singles. Our players continue to improve with each match and we are looking forward to preparing for regionals."
The Phoenix was led byÂ
Sibel Tanik who won all of her singles matches en route to being the Jimmy Powell Invitational singles co-champion, while also combined with the reigning CAA Rookie of the Year,
Lizette Reding, to win the doubles championship by going undefeated in doubles play. All eight Elon student-athletes picked up singles wins over the weekend.

Sibel Tanik picked up two singles victories over the weekend, beating Richmond's Dunbar (6-2, 6-1) and Coastal Carolina's Samucrwicz (7-6, 6-2) respectively. Tanik also combined withÂ
Lizette Reding to win all of their doubles matches, including two wins over Richmond, two wins over Coastal Carolina and one win over UNCG.

Alison O'Dea went undefeated in singles play, outlasting both UNCG's Perry (6-1, 6-1) and Coastal Carolina's Urelli (6-2, 6-7, 10-4).
