Elon Closes Final Home Tournament

Nyborg Wins Singles Competition With Undefeated Weekend

ELON – The Elon women's tennis team completed the final day of the Elon Fall Invitational on Saturday at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

The Phoenix closed out its home fall slate, ending the weekend with 12 wins, highlighted by 10 singles victories. Additionally, Alexis Nyborg collected 13 points in singles to claim the tournament's singles title.

The two matches the Phoenix won in doubles were the first wins for the pairings this fall. Iga Piotrowska and Lisa Kranec defeated Karina Moahmed and Amelie Drukerova from Charlotte, 6-4, and Alexis Nyborg and Alexandria Warsing defeated Carlota Rodriguez Sanchez and Valentina De Aquino Monsanto from NC Central, 7-5.

Nyborg won her match against Charlotte's Emma Montebello 5-7, 6-1, 10-6, to cap off a 3-0 weekend. Piotrowska, Warsing and Lisa Dierick each added a singles win.

Elon continues its fall season next week as Simone Bergeron, Mariana Reding and Cornelia Kack head to Rome, Georgia, for the ITA Conference Masters, which takes place November 5-8. Bergeron and Reding will team up in doubles with Kack playing singles.
