ELON, N.C. – The Elon University women's lacrosse team begins conference play on Sunday, March 7 when it hosts nationally-ranked James Madison on Sunday, March 7 at 2 p.m.

THE SERIES
-The Dukes lead the overall series, 7-0.
-Elon was supposed to face James Madison at home last season on April 19. However, the season was halted due to CoVID-19.

-The Phoenix posted a 13-9 win over Campbell in its season opener. Freshman
Margaret Stephan led the Elon offense, recording four goals in the first game of her collegiate career. She also tied
Mae McGlynn in points (5). McGlynn finished the day with a hat trick and pair of assists. For their performances, Stephen was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week and McGlynn was awarded CAA Player of the Week honors.
-With the win, Elon has now won four consecutive games against the Camels and three consecutive season openers.
-Elon was picked to finish second in the south division of the CAA preseason poll.
Mae McGlynn was named a preseason All-CAA team selection, while
Gillian Curran was named honorable mention.
-Elon is led by eighth-year head coach
Josh Hexter.
SCOUTING JAMES MADISON
-The Dukes enter the weekend ranked 12th in the nation by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association.
-James Madison (2-0) defeated George Mason in its most recent matchup on March 3 for the program's 500th all-time victory, 19-2. James Madison is now the fifth team in NCAA Division I history to record 500 wins as a program, joining Maryland, Penn State, Virginia and Loyola.
-The head coach of James Madison is Shelley Klaes.
