THE RUNDOWN
Elon opened the scoring with a three-run bottom of the first. Cassella led off with a double over the center fielder's head and then stole third. After Cranston was hit by a pitch, Cassella came home on an Iadisernia sacrifice fly to left. Galason then drilled the first pitch he saw as the two-run blast made it a 3-0 lead for the Phoenix (11-13, 4-2). Elon made it 4-0 with another run in the second inning. Cassella hit a one-out single through the left side and then advanced to second as Cranston reached on a bunt single to first. Iadisernia then brought in Cassella with an RBI single to right field.
W&M kept Elon from adding to its lead until a four-run bottom of the eighth. Stonehouse was hit by a pitch to start off the frame and went from first to third on a Reynolds hit through the right side. The Westport, Conn. native then came around on an Oldham single to right center. Spurlin then continued the damage with an RBI double to the gap in right as Reynolds made it 6-0. A Pico ground out second plated another run and a Cranston single through the left side pushed the Phoenix lead to 8-0. Edgington then retired the Tribe in order in the top of the ninth.
