ELON, N.C.—The Elon University women's lacrosse team will face Towson in the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women's Lacrosse Championship presented by Primis on Wednesday, May 5 at 4 p.m.

THE SERIES
-The Tigers lead the overall series, 7-1.
-Towson won the last meeting between the two teams , 16-4, which took place on April 12, 2019.

-Elon holds a 9-2 (3-1 CAA) record, entering the championship at the No. 4 seed.
-The Phoenix ended its regular season with a 10-goal victory over conference rival William & Mary on May 2, 16-6.
Sara Bouwman registered a game-best five goals for the third time this season, matching her career high.

Paulina DiFatta (9-2) totaled 12 saves on the day, just one shy of her season high. She has now finished in the double digits in saves in three consecutive games. The goalie also led the Phoenix in ground balls, finishing the game with five for a new season high. For her performance against the Tribe, she was named the CAA Defensive Player of the week for the third time this season.

SCOUTING TOWSON
-Fifth-seeded Towson is 8-7 (0-4 CAA) on the season.
-The Tigers come into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
-Towson dropped a one-goal decision to Hofstra on May 1, 15-14. Blair Pearre finished with a game-high six goals, while Olivia Malamphy posted a career-best five draw controls and Sami Chenoweth caused a team-best two draw controls.
-The head coach of Towson is Sonia LaMonica.
